The different types of magics present. (Applies mainly to Tortall and the Yamani Islands.)
The Gift:
The Gift is in many ways more powerful than Wild Magic, but it is limited by the power of the bearer's magic and the spells the user knows. The Gift gets its power from the user, but won't tire the person directly unless they use up all of their magic. If that happens, then the mage will collapse and awaken some time later with their magic restored, stronger than ever. This form of magic varies vastly from person to person in strength. Some may only be able to light a candle while others might be able to set wild fires that burn leagues of forest without breaking a sweat. Just like Wild Magic, it is not something that everyone has. Those with the Gift can follow many career paths, some examples being a healer, war mage, or trickster. If the sorcerer has the will to do something, it is usually a possibility for them.
Wild Magic:
Though many believe Wild Magic is a myth, it is indeed as real as it gets though it comes in many different forms and powers. Some sailors have been known to be able to speak to dolphins, some hostlers able to calm any raging horse easily, and in one case, able to talk to, become or share minds with any animal. Of course, that degree of Wild Magic is only found in the God-born. Wild magic is the talent to shift into animals, heal animals, talk to animals, or share minds with them, to an extent. Wild magic has been known to act without the consent of the user, hence it's name. It is also immune to magics, so no one with the Gift will be able to dampen it or control it. This type of magic uses the bearer's body to draw its strength from and is even more rare than the Gift.

Wild Magic: 5%
